About The Artist
Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Morgane Mathews and I'm a photographer based in Somerville, Massachusetts. I was born in Mexico City but grew up in both Paris and Montreal.
Photographing places is my first love. I don’t try to create literal interpretations as much as I try to convey the feeling of the place I’m photographing. Vibrant colors, crisp edges, strong emotions. I edit my images to bring out the emotions I felt as I experienced each place and to bring out my vision. Consistently engaged by shapes, textures, and space, my eyes have primarily been drawn to landscapes and cityscapes, as well as abstracts and organic shapes found in nature. Photography lets me be both technical and artistic. It helps me present how I see the world, and how I want to see the world.

Inspiration
I like to photograph a wide range of subjects; at times I find building façades every bit as beautiful as fiery sunsets, and reflections just as lyrical and ephemeral as a rising mist over a moonlit ocean. When it comes to landscapes and cityscapes, besides enjoying sweeping vistas, I also like to discover and photograph smaller details that capture my eye.
I also like abstract photography because for me, it represents the ability to see objects in other ways than they were intended or the way the majority of people might view them.
